Bible Study – Timi Oshinowo

11 Apr Bible Study – Timi Oshinowo

The theme freedom is of utmost relevance to us as believers who have been saved through grace by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us, we who were formally under the yoke of sin have by God’s grace been blessed with the gift of righteousness. It is noteworthy that Christ has purchased freedom for us in all ramification, so we can live freely in God by His Spirit.Jesus said in John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (NIV). Here we can see that the knowledge of Christ is the key to freedom.

Christ sacrifice was he dying so we can live. If Jesus didn’t descend to the lower part of the earth and wrestled to get the key to life, freedom, prosperity of the soul, we won’t have been free.

The sacrifice of Christ that brought us freedom isn’t limited to some things in God. He has brought us freedom in all things. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, all things have become new.”
You shouldn’t live in fear but in faith. You can’t live in God with curse, addiction, failure (as a result of fear) etc

It is first a thing of relationship, as we know Christ and learn of his life, we become his righteousness.
When you act in obedience, you have shifted and adjusted to be the way Christ is. It is in our or through obedience that we become free.

Roms 8:1 the Spirit would teach us all that Jesus has to teach us. What leads to addiction is repetition of what you do, so if you live after the spirit(if you continue to obey the spirit), you won’t walk after the flesh and your life would conform towards the Spirit.

It takes obedience for you to be free. With continuous obedience, righteousness masters you. James 1:25 the changes we want to see in our lives would only be brought about if we continue to look into the perfect law of liberty and if we continue to obey.
Once you know Christ, you have gotten the key to freedom but you have to use the key to open the door, the way to open it is through obedience.

How much have you been obeying?

Why were we set free?

1. To be separated to God for fellowship (psalm 8:4, Hebrews 2:4-10, 1 John 1:3)
Fellowship is intercourse of God and man. It’s through fellowship that God would build us to be like him.How do you fellowship with Christ? To learn and know the live of Christ and God the father.
You can find time to study the scripture, praying based on the scriptures studied and finding time to prayer and worship.
2. To learn and know the life of Christ and God the father (Matt 11:28-29, Eph 1:18)\

3. To be set free fully from all entanglement with the world so that we can partake of His divine nature (2peter 1:2-4)4. To do God’s bidding and serve Him. (John 6:28-29, Ecc 12:13)

I submit that freedom is real in God but cannot be harnessed except that we go through Christ, it is Him that administers the Spirit to us. The spirit of God saves and gives life for all who desire Christ, he also gives us the required leading for us to reach the fullness of God.
