03 May MEET THE EXCO’S – ADEGBENRO MERCY
FSFUNILAG publicity unit in an exclusive interview with The Financial Secretary ADEGBENRO MERCY – Enjoy!
CAN WE MEET YOU?
My name is Adegbenro Mercy Temiloluwa, Department of finance, Faculty of business administration. 400 level.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN EXCO?
I have been a part of the executive for two years now – that was when I was in my year three and now year four. I’m still maintaining the same post of the financial secretary.
HAS YOUR COURSE OF STUDY AIDED YOUR POSITION IN ANYWAY?
Well, I will say yes to an extent, although the finance I am studying just has to do with how to make a naira of today worth more in the nearest future but some other courses I did have been helpful to an extent and thank God for the calculation too.
SOME UNIT HEAD’S WILL SAY THEIR UNIT MEMBERS AND THE LIVES PLACED UNDER THEM ARE SOMETIMES THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THEIR PRAYERFULNESS AND WORD STUDY, SINCE YOU DON’T HAVE UNIT MEMBERS, HOW HAS IT BEEN WITH YOU?
Well, I will say the holy spirit himself has been the driving force, he himself has been there to push me and to ensure that I pray and study the word. Also, I will say that the other units I belong to – which is the choir unit and evangelism unit are also a part of the force too, because we always have to be prepared, we always have to hear the world from God every day, especially when we go for unit meetings.
WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
Let me say im passionate about giving and caring, in the sense that I just find myself helping people who are in need of one thing or the other, I don’t just know how but I find myself rendering a helping hand even if I don’t have, I still find a way of making sure whatsoever they need is available. I find myself caring for people, pitying people a lot and I find myself helping them.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF TEN YEARS FROM NOW?
I see an established business woman, married with kids and doing well in the ministry.
ARE YOU IN A RELATIONSHIP?
No, I’m not
Relationship is not something I will run into, I’m just waiting for the right time, waiting for the right person and I’m waiting for God too.
WHEN WILL THE RIGHT PERSON COME, HOW WILL YOU IDENTIFY THE RIGHT PERSON?
Choi! I said I’m also waiting for God then I would say God’s time is the best, he will help me to know the right person when the time comes. I don’t know…
WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FELLOWSHIP?
I see a fellowship with people large numbers, shaking the whole of Unilag and doing well both spiritually and academically.
ANY FINAL WORDS FOR YOUR PEOPLE?
My word goes out to those thinking the church is taking a lot of their time, I want to tell them that it pays to serve God, it pays to be committed because there are a lot of things he has in stock for us, which if we are busy doing other things we might not be able to come into it, so staying committed to him and remaining in him is just the best advice and the best way to success. Thank you.
