The originality of sons of God

First to the beginning, in Genesis 1:26 (KJV) God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

From here we understand that originally, God created man in His image(imitation of God) and after His likeness(character and nature of God). He also created man so he can multiply and have dominion over all the earth.

So man is actually the appearance and character of God. But the first man sinned and he was sent away from the presence of God. However, the saviour, Jesus Christ came not only to restore us back to God but also to take us from just being only sons of man to sons of God.

John 1:12 (KJV) “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:13, 16 (KJV) ‘Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace.”

Now the creation of man by God is to be just like Jesus because He alone has passed to be the only original likeness God had in mind.
The coming of Jesus is not only as a saviour but as a representation and nature of sons of God. 1 John 3:2 (KJV) “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
